According to Football Insider, some promising transfer news has come out of Tottenham Hotspur and it involves promising Peterborough United defender Ronnie Edwards.

Spurs and transfer chief Fabio Paratici have been no strangers to lower league talent, according to reports in recent months.

The likes of Djed Spence, currently shining on loan at Nottingham Forest from Middlesbrough, has been at the centre of Tottenham’s interest alongside Posh defender Benjamin Mensah.

Tottenham have also apparently turned their attention to the signing of Oxford United defender Luke McNally in recent months with one bid of £2 million having already been put on the table (Football Insider).

Now, as per FI, news has emerged on another.

The Latest: Spurs prepare Edwards bid…

According to their information, Tottenham are preparing an offer for the centre-back as they line up a move.

Peterborough, it is believed, are braced for bids from the Lilywhites and other clubs with the north London side now stepping up their interest.

This comes after Spurs started making regular checks on Edwards ‘in recent weeks’.

The Verdict: Make a move?

The England Under-19 international is apparently very highly rated and has already been impressing in England’s second tier.

Edwards, still only a teenager, has played very regularly in the Championship under both ex-boss Duncan Ferguson and new manager Grant McCann.

In that time, he has stood out as a brilliant performer, averaging one of the highest pass accuracy percentages out of Peterborough’s squad whilst also a noteworthy amount of clearances per 90 (WhoScored).

Described as an ‘incredible talent’ by his former gaffer Ferguson, Edwards now attracting Spurs’ interest is hardly a surprise given some of his exceptional 2021/2022 performances.

Dockrell, the Ireland left-arm spinner who turns 18 this week, impressed at the World Twenty20 with flight, control and a nerveless temperament when he took 3 for 16 against West Indies and followed it up with another bright showing against England.His talents were noticed by Somerset, who invited him to train with the team and he is now looking forward to joining the club, though the details of the contract are not yet final.”Everyone has been very friendly and it looks like a great place to play cricket,” Dockrell told the Somerset website. “I’m looking forward to playing my first game for a Somerset XI at Bath tomorrow and hopefully the contract will be sorted out very soon.”He could yet follow in the footsteps of Ed Joyce and Eoin Morgan and switch allegiances to England with a view to playing Test cricket but at the moment his sights are firmly set on Somerset.”My ambitions are to keep making progress with Ireland, but also to get into a county first team by developing all aspects of my game. Leeds United reporter Adam Pope has revealed that star man Raphinha is ‘fit and available’ to face Aston Villa this evening.

The Lowdown: International scare

Raphinha, who Jermaine Beckford labelled as ‘phenomenal’, starred for Brazil during the international break in a 4-0 win over Paraguay.

The 25-year-old scored the opener, had a goal disallowed and hit the post before being replaced late on.

The forward was on the end of a heavy challenge with eight minutes remaining and limped off, with Leeds physios assessing Raphinha on his return to Yorkshire.

The Latest: Pope’s reply

Pope shared a video on Twitter on Monday evening in which he spoke with Raphinha regarding his future.

He was then asked by a Whites fan about the fitness status ahead of the trip to Villa Park, with Pope simply saying: “He’s fit and available.”

The Verdict: Phew

Raphinha has been the club’s shining light in what has been a difficult season at Elland Road, so knowing he has avoided serious injury is a relief.

The versatile wide man has been Leeds’ best Premier League performer by some distance and has contributed to ten Premier League goals, with Jack Harrison next on the list with five, as per WhoScored.

It seems as if he’ll have to continue to carry the goalscoring burden on his shoulders with Patrick Bamford still sidelined, but his availability in the Midlands this evening is a huge positive.

Em Araraquara, na Fonte Luminosa, o Timãozinho voltou a jogar mal e foi facilmente superado pelo Avaí, que venceu por 2 a 0 e avançou às quartas de final do torneio. Encara o Flamengo, na próxima quinta-feira.

Além da eliminação, o Corinthians teve quebrada uma série de 31 jogos sem perder na Copa São Paulo. O último tropeço havia sido na final de 2014, derrota de 2 a 1 para o Santos. De lá para cá, eram 28 vitória e três empates, com dois títulos e um vice-campeonato.

A partida do Corinthians foi a tônica da participação do time na competição. Bem abaixo de sua tradição. Com pouca criatividade e por vezes sonolento em campo, o Timãozinho esbarrou no ótimo sistema defensivo do Avaí, que em nenhum momento se viu em apuros no jogo. Ao contrário. Saía para o ataque com desenvoltura e assustava nos contra-golpes.

O primeiro gol do Avaí saiu aos 27 minutos do primeiro tempo, com Rael. Ele cobrou pênalti cometido por Lucas Minele em Caio Paulista. Novidade na escalação do Corinthians depois de acompanhar o profissional na Florida Cup, o goleiro Filipe ainda chegou na bola, mas não evitou o gol.
