Cricinfo staff29-Sep-2008Graham Napier has won the 2008 Walter Lawrence Trophy for the season’s fastest hundred, having reached three figures off 44 balls against Sussex in the Twenty20 on route to his record-breaking 152.For the first time in its 74-year history the trophy was made open to all domestic county competitions this season so Napier becomes the first winner with a limited-over innings.Napier’s entire innings took just 58 balls as he hit 16 sixes – a Twenty20 record – and 10 fours. He will be presented with the Walter Lawrence Trophy and a cheque for £5,000 at a special dinner in the Long Room at Lord’s on October 15.At the dinner, Akbar Ansari, the 20-year-old Cambridge University allrounder, will be presented with the 2008 Walter Lawrence Trophy award for the highest-scoring batsman from the six MCC Universities. He made 193 against Oxford University in the Varsity match at The Parks on July 3.

وتم الاتفاق على كافة الأمور الخاصة بالمرحلة المقبلة والتأكيد على الدعم والمساندة للمدير الفني وجهازه المعاون لتحقيق طموحات الأهلي وجماهيره على كافة المستويات.

يذكر أن سيد عبد الحفيظ مستمر في موقعه مديرًا لجهاز الكرة، والجهاز المعـاون يضـم كلا من: ماوريسيو فاش مدربـًا، سامي قمصان مدربـًا، راؤول فاريا مطـور أداء، بيدرو جيميرايش، مخطط أحمال وإخصائي فسيولوجي، إدواردو لوبو، مدرب حراس المرمى، لويس بيريرا محلل أداء الفرق المنافسة.

استهل منتخب مصر لكرة السلة تحت 17 سنة مشواره في بطولة كأس العالم المقامة حاليًا في إسبانيا بالخسارة من نظيره الأرجنتين بنتيجة 59/50.

وعلى الرغم من الهزيمة إلا أن منتخب مصر بقيادة مدربه عمرو أبو الخير قدم عرضًا قويًا في أول منافسة دولية له، وكان قريبًا من العودة في النتيجة ولكن تفاصيل قليلة أنهت المباراة بهذه النتيجة.

وكان الربع الأول من المباراة متقاربًا جدًا بين المنتخبين في الأداء والنتيجة، حيث انتهى بتفوق الأرجنتين بنتيجة 18/16، قبل أن يتمكن الأخير من توسيع الفارق في الفترة الثانية التي انتهت بتفوقه بنتيجة 14/9.

وفي الفترة الثالثة حاول منتخب مصر استعادة توازنه، لكنها انتهت بتفوق الأرجنتين 14/10، ولكن تمكن شباب الفراعنة في الفترة الرابعة من إنهاء الـ10 دقائق الأخيرة بتفوقهم بنتيجة 15/13، إلا أن المباراة انتهت بفوز الأرجنتين 59/50.

ويحل منتخب مصر في المجموعة الرابعة بكأس العالم رفقة أستراليا، الأرجنتين، وبولندا، ويواجه نظيره الأسترالي في مباراة الجولة الثانية غدًا الأحد.

وقال إسلام عيسى في تصريحات للصحفيين بعد المباراة: “سعيد بشدة بالفوز الذي حققه الفريق وهذا الانتصار مهم للغاية في مشوار الدوري، واللاعبون تعاهدوا على عدم خسارة أي نقاط بعد الفترة الأخيرة”.

وأضاف: “الكل قدم أفضل ما لديه واللاعبون يطمعون في مواصلة الانتصارات”.

وعلق على الهدف الذي سجله أمام إيسترن اليوم: “جاء في توقيت جيد بالشوط الأول وحالفني التوفيق كثيرا في التصويبة المباشرة، والانتصار بثلاثية مهم حاليا ولابد من نسيانه سريعا لأن الفريق مرتبط بمواجهة هامة في الكأس يوم الأحد أمام الأهلي ولابد من التجهيز لهذا اللقاء بكل قوة”.

Junior Firpo made his full Leeds United debut at home to Everton on Saturday afternoon following his summer arrival from FC Barcelona.

But it was a tricky start for the Spaniard – only Kalvin Phillips in the Whites XI earned as low of a SofaScore rating as his 6.5.

Firpo was substituted off on the hour mark for Jamie Shackleton with Leeds trailing 2-1 at the time, having lost possession on 13 occasions.

Leeds were bidding to get off the mark for the new season after falling to an emphatic 5-1 defeat away to Manchester United on the opening day.

And they were playing in front of a sell-out crowd, the largest Elland Road attendance since they were promoted back to the Premier League in 2020.

They did welcome supporters back for the clash with West Bromwich Albion on the final day of 2020/21, but the capacity was limited to 8,000 that day.

وواصل تصريحاته: “هناك لحظات تمر عليك يجب أن تتقبل فيها الوضع الحالي، في بعض الأحيان، حتى تعود على الطريق الصحيح، يجب أن تصحح الوضع الاقتصادي، لأن الإمكانيات الفنية موجودة سواء في المدربين أو اللاعبين، أعتقد أن العودة الصحيحة ستكون بعد عام أو عامين”.

We will now work through a process to appoint a new coach in the next few weeks.”Jenkin said he needed a rest. “It was a very tough decision but everything’s fine [in the camp]. I’m just taking a bit of a break, which I probably should have done a few years ago,” Jenkin told the Dominion Post. “I’ve been in the role for three years but I’ve coached at the elite level for 16 years straight.”The girls are brilliant; they’ve worked very hard and increased their skills to a higher level. Flocking to Twitter, many Tottenham Hotspur fans have erupted over the official announcement of third major summer signing Cristian Romero after long talks.

Spurs have been attempting to sign the Argentine from Atalanta over these last two weeks with the Serie A side having remained stubborn in negotiations for a period.

However, news broke recently of an agreement between the clubs as Tottenham now finalise his signing and make an announcement.

Romero has joined the Lilywhites as Nuno Espirito Santo’s third major summer signing after deals for both Pierluigi Gollini and Bryan Gil, but his arrival in particular finally puts an end to Spurs’ long, long search for a star centre-half.
