Hatfield: West Brom could sign Jayson Molumby permanently

Express and Star Journalist Luke Hatfield believes that if Jayson Molumby impresses at West Brom then he will stick around permanently.

Molumby signed an initial season-long loan deal with West Brom from Brighton and Hove Albion, with a view to a permanent move in the future.

The 22-year-old spent last season on loan with Preston North End making 40 outings in all competitions.

Hatfield believes that Molumby is exactly the type of player that Baggies manager Valerien Ismael goes for and will buy into his philosophy, telling Transfer Tavern: “It’s on loan with a view to a permanent deal, so if he impresses well enough it could well be a permanent one. He doesn’t seem to be too much in the thinking at Brighton so that’s one I think could happen come the end of the season.

“Obviously if he doesn’t put in performances then Albion will probably say goodbye to him but if he shows what he’s all about then it’s one that will probably stick around on a permanent basis.”

The Baggies currently sit second in the Championship table after an unbeaten start to the season, winning four of their first five matches.

After such a good start to the campaign, West Brom will be hoping to continue of their good run of form and hopefully make a return to the Premier League at the first time of asking.

Left-arm medium-pacer Sajidul Islam has been called up to Bangladesh’s Test squad in South Africa as a last-minute replacement for Syed Rasel, who’s been forced to return home after a back injury flared up.Sajidul is expected to reach South Africa on November 17, two days before the first Test against South Africa in Bloemfontein. He had played in the two Tests against New Zealand in January this year during Bangladesh’s tour of the country; Sajidul was added to the touring party after Rasel, also a left-armer, dislocated a shoulder during a practice game in December last year. Sajidul has taken 17 wickets in five games this season in the National Cricket League, Bangladesh’s domestic first-class competition, at 19 apiece.Rasel has been in and out of Bangladesh’s side since that shoulder dislocation, plagued by various injury problems. He has played only eight of Bangladesh’s 26 ODIs this year, and hasn’t played in a Test since July 2007. Like the other bowlers, Rasel didn’t have too much success in the ODI leg of their South Africa trip, giving away 131 runs in 20 overs for his two wickets. Bangladesh’s selectors had retained the players in their limited-overs squad for the two Tests.

Bracewell backs beaten batsmen

The New Zealand coach John Bracewell has no plans to alter his “starstruck” batting order for the second Test against Australia

The New Zealand coach John Bracewell has no plans to alter his “starstruck” batting order and will not be rushed into changing a line-up he hopes will eventually become an international force. Runs were a severe problem for the tourists after they challenged Australia for the opening two days of the first Test before tumbling to a 149-run defeat.Totals of 156 and 177 led to a loss inside ten sessions but Bracewell is content with his side for the second Test in Adelaide from Friday. The batting order contains only one player, Brendon McCullum, who has appeared in more than 20 Tests and the team management is happy for the line-up to learn on the job.”It’s been going on for a while now,” Bracewell said of the batting problems. “I keep putting it down to experience and we’re still reasonably inexperienced. Most of these guys have had limited first-class careers and been picked on their talent and potential. I believe their talent and potential is enormous when we get enough Test matches into them.”The problem for New Zealand is they are already using the best in the country so they have few options except to hope the unit, which includes the highly talented Jesse Ryder and Ross Taylor, develops into one that is capable of lifting the side. If New Zealand lose the second Test they will slip to eighth on the rankings, below West Indies and above Bangladesh.Ryder, an attacking No. 3, will remain there after looking reasonably comfortable during short innings of 30 and 24 – Australia will continue to attack him outside off stump – and McCullum is unlikely to be moved from No. 5 despite two failures. Bracewell does not want to bow to the populist demand for McCullum to drop back to seven and is pleased with the development of Daniel Flynn, who is a long-term project at six.”The more experience we get in to them, the better they will become,” Bracewell said. “I have no doubt they will get better. When they gather enough experience they will become a world force.”There are players in the side who are so fresh that they are in awe of playing against Australia and on the Test grounds in Brisbane and Adelaide. “A lot of our guys are still a little bit starstruck,” Bracewell said. “We were talking about it the other day, the opportunity to play at Adelaide. A lot of them go ‘wow’.”They’ve done the same thing over the last couple of years. A lot of these guys are in positions where they see this as just a wonderful adventure. We need to step up and see ourselves as world class in order to become world class.”New Zealand are in this situation because of the departure of a group of senior players, including the former captain Stephen Fleming, to the Twenty20 competitions in India. The captain Daniel Vettori said before the first Test Shane Bond was the only player involved in the new events who would demand selection, but Bracewell felt there were people who left too early.”Everybody has to regenerate at some point,” he said. “If you look at the history of the side that has actually moved on they were all around the same age, they all grew up together … and they all got to the point where they started to have families and were looking for other commercial – perhaps easier – commitments than the hard slog of international cricket. It’s a lot easier to go to ICL and get the big bucks for six weeks.”

Tottenham dealt Franck Kessie transfer blow

Speaking to Milan Posts, journalist Daniele Longo has shared news on reported Tottenham Hotspur transfer target Franck Kessie in a fresh blow to their aspirations of signing him.

The Lowdown: Spurs in Kessie chase…

The AC Milan star’s current deal expires in 2022, with the San Siro club frantically trying to agree terms on a new contract.

[web_stories_embed url=”https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/web-stories/tottenham-latest-developments/” title=”Tottenham latest developments!” poster=”” width=”360″ height=”600″ align=”none”]

It is believed that the midfield gem’s representative is holding out for a €7m (£6m) per year salary for his client if an agreement is to be reached, prompting both Spurs and Paris-Saint Germain to join the battle for his signature (TUTTOmercatoWEB).

Interested clubs could sign the Ivory Coast international on a free transfer next summer as it stands and are free to open negotiations in January.

The Latest: Journalist shares Kessie blow for Spurs…

Speaking to Milan Posts, Italian reporter Longo has shared news on Kessie in what is a fresh blow for Tottenham. According to the journalist, AC Milan’s star midfielder has ‘refused’ to join Nuno Espirito Santo’s side.

“I don’t know if Kessie will stay, after refusing Milan’s last offer (5M for the first 2 years, 5.5M for the third year, 6.5M for the fourth and the fifth). I think that the player would like to remain, but at his entourage’s conditions,” he explained.

Longo then added: “It’s a different situation from that of Donnarumma and Calhanoglu. What is certain is that Kessie refused #Tottenham, and that he’s listening to #PSG (I do not exclude that he could join Paris in January)”.

The Verdict: Disappointing development…

Lauded as ‘devastating’ by former Italy international Antonio Cassano (Bobo TV via Milan Live), this certainly comes as a disappointing development for Tottenham if true.

Signing Kessie on a free deal for next summer would be a masterstroke by any club, and one which would have certainly stood out as perhaps Fabio Paratici’s most head-turning move yet in north London.

Alas, judging by this update, Spurs may now have to start looking at other midfield targets to sign in 2022.

Santa Cruz acerta a contratação do zagueiro Sandro, ex-Ceará

'The game's not finished yet' – Boucher

Mark Boucher has stirred memories of one of Australia’s most famous collapses in the hope they will offer a repeat performance to keep South Africa in the third Test

Mark Boucher has stirred memories of one of Australia’s most famous collapses in the hope they will offer a repeat performance to keep South Africa in the third Test. Fifteen years ago, Australia failed to chase 117 against South Africa at the SCG and Boucher reminded the opposition about it twice after his brave 89 dragged the current team to 118 behind in the first innings.”The game’s not finished yet,” Boucher said. “There’s a history of Australian sides being bowled out for low scores here at the SCG – 111, I’m sure you guys remember it. Our backs are up against the wall in this game and you don’t have to be a rocket scientist to know that. We do havefighters in our team, we have proved that for the whole series. We won’t go down without a fight.”South Africa’s hopes for a small target were not helped when Australia finished the third day at 0 for 33, taking a lead of 151 on a pitch which is becoming more difficult by the hour. Boucher and Morne Morkel put on 115 for the sixth wicket to give their side a hope of saving the game, but they will have to do it without their captain Graeme Smith.Smith flew to Melbourne to have his broken fifth metacarpal replastered and also had the first blood injection in his right elbow. He was due to return to the team in Sydney on Monday night and the on-field leadership duties have gone to Neil McKenzie.Boucher and Morkel, who scored a career-best 40, combined to edge South Africa to 327, a strong total considering the circumstances. “I thought we did pretty well to get where we did,” Boucher said. “Myself and Morne had a good partnership at the end of the day.”The end came quickly for South Africa, with Peter Siddle grabbing 4 for 7 in 22 balls, and Boucher was last out when bowled trying to get closer to his century. “I was a bit disappointed not to get the extra 11 runs – something I’ve always wanted,” he said. “If you’d given me 89 at the start of the day I would have taken it, on a wicket that is deteriorating a lot quicker than people thought.”Siddle’s burst confirmed his promise and he collected 5 for 59 from 27.5 overs to show the inexperienced attack could work together. Mitchell Johnson was impressive, taking 2 for 69, while the debutant Doug Bollinger was unlucky to go wicketless.”It was a tough day, the main focus was team bowling, bowling in partnerships, and we did that in the end,” Siddle said. “I was lucky to come out with the reward. It’s very pleasing to get my first five-for. I feel happy about that, and it’s just good to go out there and stand up forthe team.”Australia will now aim for a lead off 300 on the fourth day before making a decision on when to declare. “I can’t predict anything at the moment,” Siddle said. “We’ll see where we’re sitting at tea, and see which way we’re going to go.”

Kane could now sign new deal at Spurs

Harry Kane could now be open to extending his contract with Tottenham Hotspur, with fresh talks expected with Fabio Paratici and Daniel Levy.

The Lowdown: Kane stays put over summer

Tottenham’s all-time goalscorer Kane was linked with a move away from the club over the summer, with Manchester City seeming the suitors for his signature, but a move never happened and he has returned to action for Nuno Espirito Santo’s side.

After scoring 23 goals and assisting a further 14 goals last season, Kane led England to the final of the European Championships before delaying his return to training at Spurs.

However, the striker confirmed his desire to remain at the club and news has now emerged about his future at Spurs.

The Latest: Fresh talks looming

According to EuroSport, Kane could still sign a new contract at Tottenham despite having his desire to leave the club in the summer.

The article also states that Kane, who was tipped to beat every goal record in the book by former manager Jose Mourninho, rejected a fresh deal days after the striker lost to Italy in the final of the national competition, but avenues are now open for fresh terms to be discussed between club chiefs and the striker.

A deal would only be agreed if Levy welcomes the idea of inserting a release clause however, meaning Paratici and the divisive Spurs chairman may have some serious negotiating to do.

The Verdict: Long way to go

With Kane remaining at the club and Heung-Min Son extending his stay at the club, things are truly looking up for Spurs in terms of keeping their star men.

The striker, who was described as ‘unbelievable’ by Jack Grealish recently, has scored 223 goals in 340 appearances for Tottenham, a remarkable record, and he will be hoping Levy will consider his history in mind when concluding a deal.

Whilst the deal may mean a pay rise for Kane, Paratici’s thinking of keeping hold of Kane for this season and maybe the following is vital if they are to return to the top six of the Premier League.
