Last week we discussed how Leeds United needed to do right by Jay-Roy Grot and find him a new club in January so that the 22-year-old doesn’t waste valuable time in his footballing career, but there has been something of a twist in Grot’s tale.

Indeed, the Dutchman was surprisingly included in Leeds’ 25-man Premier League squad, and while it could be argued that he’s just making up the numbers and that Leeds needed someone to fill that spot, it’s worth considering that neither Ouasim Bouy nor Conor Shaughnessy were included despite both being eligible and there being space in the squad.

Grot was included while Bouy and Shaughnessy were happily left out, so that may indicate that there’s a slight chance that he may get an opportunity in the Premier League, and it’s one he has to take.

It’s been speculated that he’d never get the chance to play under Bielsa, and while he wasn’t all that impressive during his time as a first-teamer at the club following his £1.44m move, we’ve seen this before.

Mateusz Klich was loaned out just six months after he joined Leeds, and it was speculated that his time at the club was over when he was sent out to Utrecht after just 10 games for the Whites, but here we are three years later and he’s one of United’s most important players.

Grot needs to undergo that same transformation, he was labelled as ‘lazy’ by Noel Whelan on BBC Radio Leeds (via Football Insider) during his last season with the club, and that sort of mindset and attitude simply won’t fly if he’s trying to impress Bielsa.

Either way, Grot’s inclusion in Leeds’ Premier League squad symbolises a light at the end of the tunnel that wasn’t there before, and it will be interesting to see if he gets a shot this season.

وتحدث كراوتش عن رأيه في الثنائي خلال حواره مع شبكة “BT Sport” البريطانية، وقال: “أمر صعب حقًا أن نقارن بين اللاعبين، لأن هناك اختلاف في كل شيء”.

وتابع: “سواريز كان متألقًا في موسم واحد وقد فعل فيه كل شيء، وكاد ليفربول يفوز ببطولة الدوري الإنجليزي معه، لكن من الصعب للغاية أن تقارن بين الفريقين”.

وأضاف: “فريق محمد صلاح الحالي أفضل بكثير مما كان عليه فريق سواريز، لويس كان رائعًا في موسمه الأخير مع ليفربول، ولكن استمرار تألق مو أمر مذهل”.

وواصل تصريحاته: “بصفتي أسطورة للنادي، فمن الواضح أنني سأختار محمد صلاح، لما فعله على مدار السنوات الماضية، لكن سواريز في موسم (2013-2014) كان مذهلًا، كاد أن يقود ليفربول للفوز بلقب الدوري الإنجليزي مع الفريق القديم”.

وكشف أوين عن رأيه هو الآخر، وقال: “عندما تنظر إلى الأرقام القياسية، متشابهة في عدد الأهداف التي تحرز في كل مباراة، ولكن كما تحدث كراوتش كان سواريز في فريق لم يكن جيدًا مثل الآن مع محمد صلاح”.

واستمر: “تألق محمد صلاح مع ليفربول موسم بعد موسم يجعله أسطورة، لأنه فاز أيضًا بالألقاب مع الفريق، سواريز لم يكن ناجحًا من هذا المنظور، ولكني لم أكن متحمسًا مثلما شعرت عندما لعب سواريز مع الريدز”.

وأتم تصريحاته: “كموسم واحد لا يمكن لأحد التغلب على ما فعله سواريز، كان أداءه صاعقًا للجميع”.

Key information about Victory Park

Victory Park was built in 1919 and is now the home of National League’s Chorley FC. The ground is located just to the south of the town centre of Chorley and is the club’s fourth venue after they had previously played at three different stadiums.

Its current maximum capacity stands at 4,100, 900 of which are seated, and it has a pitch that’s covered with grass and is not surrounded by a running track.

The record attendance at Victory Park was set in a FA Cup clash against Darwen on 15 November 1932 when there were 9,679 supporters in the stands.

A history of Victory Park

Before actually moving to Victory Park in 1920, Chorley FC played their football first at Dole Lane, then at Rangletts Recreation Ground and finally, from 1905 until 1920, at St George’s Park, the home of defunct side Chorley St Georges FC. Interestingly, however, Victory Park was initially just an ash tip adjacent to the recreation ground that was their home for years when the club bought it for £868 in 1919.

That was also when the construction began and within a year, Chorley would have a brand new stadium to call home. The name of the ground, Victory Stadium, was given after the outcome of World War I and as a celebration of victory against the aggressors. And it didn’t really take them long to start redeveloping and improving their safe haven.

In August 1929, Chorley erected the first stage of covered terraces at the Pilling Lane end of the stadium, boosting the capacity and improving the general outlook of the ground. This would, in turn, help increase the overall interest from the crowds too, ultimately paving the way towards the highest ever attendance in the history of Victory Park.

On 15 November 1932, there were 9,679 fans in the stands for Chorley’s FA Cup clash against Darwen and for a while, life was pretty good for the club and the new stadium was certainly a hit. But, disaster struck soon after.

On 17 November 1945, the wooden main stand was gutted by fire after 4,000 people had watched the clash against Football League club Accrington Stanley in the first leg of an FA Cup first-round tie. The damage was huge as the seating, the boardroom, dressing rooms and all the equipment were lost.

Still, they managed to recover quickly and within two years of the incident, a new brick and wood stand was erected to go along with covered terraces on both ends of Victory Park. That new stand was built in May 1947 at a cost of £5,500.

Even today, the stadium is not exactly the most modern ground in the league but has that old-fashioned and traditional feeling about it with its floodlight pylons and the grass banking that surrounds it. In 2017/18, Chorley started work on their newest addition to the stadium, the 1883 Stand.

لكن بعد خضوعه لاختبارات عند عودته من فترة التوقف الدولية، أكد مانشستر سيتي أنه لا يتوقع عودة توريس البالغ من العمر 21 عامًا حتى العام الجديد.

وأكد المدرب بيب جوارديولا، اليوم الجمعة، أنه على الرغم من احتمال تعرض فيران لكسر في قدمه أمام فرنسا، إلا أن المدرب يرفض إلقاء اللوم على إسبانيا بقيادة زميله السابق في برشلونة لويس إنريكي، في إصابة توريس.

وقال جوارديولا في تصريحات نشرتها صحيفة “ديلي ميل” البريطانية: “توريس سيغيب لمدة شهرين ونصف إلى ثلاثة أشهر، لقد تعرض لكسر في قدمه، في مشط القدم”.

وأضاف: “يمكن أن تحدث الإصابة هنا في المنتخب الوطني، وأنا أعرف جيداً المدير الفني لإسبانيا، لقد اعتنى بفيران بشكل جيد بقدر ما هو ممكن، إذا أصيب، حاولوا الاعتناء به، يحدث ذلك أحيانًا، حدث ذلك مع فودين ودي بروين”.

وأكمل: “يحدث ذلك، هناك الكثير من المباريات وسيذهب إلى إسبانيا لبضعة أسابيع، سيكون جاهزا في غضون ثلاثة أشهر”.

بدأ توريس أول أربع مباريات لـ مانشستر سيتي هذا الموسم في الدوري الإنجليزي الممتاز، وسجل هدفين وصنع هدفًا في الفوز 5-0 على أرضه على أرسنال قبل فترة التوقف الدولية في سبتمبر.

لكنه انسحب منذ ذلك الحين من التشكيلة الأساسية بعد أن ترك على مقاعد البدلاء في المواجهات الثلاث التالية في البريميرليج.

أكد عامر حسين عضو رابطة الأندية والمشرف على لجنة المسابقات، أن هناك تنسيقًا كاملًا بين رابطة الأندية والجهاز الفني لمنتخب مصر.

وقال حسين خلال تصريحات عبر قناة “أون تايم سبورت 1”: “المعسكر بدأ قبل الأجندة الدولية، وهذا سيحدث أيضاً قبل كأس العرب، وبالتنسيق مع كيروش تم الاستقرار على لعب 3 جولات من الدوري قبل كأس العرب”.

ومن المقرر أن تنطلق بطولة كأس العرب من 1 إلى 18 ديسمبر المقبل في قطر، وستقام المباريات على 6 ملاعب، بمشاركة 23 منتخبًا.

وتابع: “اقترحنا تصور إقامة الدوري من دور واحد لكن الأندية رفضت، والأندية هي المسؤولة عن جلب الموافقات الأمنية لخوض مبارياتها على الملعب الذي تريده”.

وأتم: “رابطة الأندية هي من تدير الدوري ولكن هناك لجان مرتبطة بالاتحاد ويوجد تنسيق كامل”.

يذكر أن الدوري سينطلق يوم 25 من شهر أكتوبر الحالي، وفقاً لما أعلنه اتحاد الكرة المصري، فيما تقام القرعة يوم 12 من الشهر ذاته.

Manchester United defender Phil Jones has never been the same since Sir Alex Ferguson left Old Trafford.

Jones has been plagued by constant injury setbacks over the years after arriving at the Theatre of Dreams from Blackburn for £17m back in 2011.

However, according to The Athletic’s Laurie Whitwell, Jones has recently undergone surgery to clear a lingering problem with his knee. The surgery has been a success and Man United are confident that he can turn his career around and finally live up to expectations.

David Moyes, who managed Jones during his time at Old Trafford, is keen to sign him, although that hinges on whether or not West Ham stay in the Premier League.

The 28-year-old is open to a move regardless, as he wants to be playing regular football and finds himself below the likes of Harry Maguire, Victor Lindelof and Eric Bailly in the pecking order. He has shockingly only managed to play two games in the Premier League all season.

Unsurprisingly, many United fans slammed the news on social media, with some branding him a “broken man” and suggesting that he is “robbing the club blind” in light of his horrendous injury record. Meanwhile, one fan urged the board to “get him out.”

Barcelona are no longer interested in Tottenham star Tanguy Ndombele. 

According to Sky Sports, as per Ricky Sacks, Barcelona’s interest in Ndombele has now cooled after they signed Miralem Pjanic from Juventus.

Ndombele, who is the club’s record signing, has a strained relationship with Jose Mourinho, and the pair are currently embroiled in a public spat, via Football Insider. According to The Athletic, they just don’t understand each other, as the Frenchman has reacted angrily to Mourinho’s offer to train together.

Daniel Levy has made it abundantly clear the French international will not be sold in the summer and has personally reached out to his representatives to try and resolve the situation.

Mourinho has developed a habit for losing control of a dressing room on multiple occasions and Ndombele appears to be following a similar path to Manchester United maverick midfielder Paul Pogba.

Both sides are too stubborn for their own good and Levy has turned peacemaker in an attempt to find a peaceful resolution.

Barca’s decision is a massive transfer boost for Tottenham, as it is hard to imagine anyone else will be able to afford the £46m-valued ace under the current circumstances, but it is bad news for Mourinho.

The 23-year-old, who has been compared to Chelsea star N’Golo Kante, has struggled for consistency this season, and has now picked up an injury.

To add insult to injury, he has only played 64 minutes of football since the Premier League restart, and has finished four of the past games on the bench as an unused substitute.

Nevertheless, Levy is adamant Ndombele is not up for sale, despite Mourinho’s obvious misgivings. Whether or not this ongoing saga will be resolved before the start of next season remains to be seen, but if the club opts to persist with Ndombele, can they also persist with Mourinho as well or will one have to go?

Despite leaving the club towards the end of last year, Mauricio Pochettino’s name continues to be intrinsically linked with Tottenham.

The Argentine was replaced by Jose Mourinho after a stuttering start to the season saw them drop to 14th in the Premier League at the time of his sacking.

Now, amidst the current financial struggles that sides are facing due to the current climate, The Telegraph have claimed Spurs have opened negotiations with their former boss over a reduction in payments – the report claims that Pochettino is “still getting paid his £8.5m salary during his break from management”.

After hearing about the report, Spurs fans took to Twitter to voice their thoughts on the situation.

A couple of Spurs fans simply urged the club to bring Pochettino back.

Judging by the reaction of most of these Spurs fans, it’s safe to say Pochettino still holds a special place in their hearts.

The Argentine was at the club for five years, and whilst he may not have won any trophies to show for it, he certainly established Spurs as a core part of the ‘big six’ in the top-flight.

Whether Pochettino will be willing to do his old side a favour with the severance package remains to be seen however.

A number of Celtic supporters were left distinctly unimpressed with the performance of Lewis Morgan on Wednesday night.

Normally a left winger or midfielder, the 23-year-old played in a centre-forward role for Neil Lennon’s team for the third game in succession in the 2-1 win over Hamilton at Parkhead.

Despite being deployed as the Hoops’ most advanced player, he was unable to get on the scoresheet against Brian Rice’s men, being withdrawn in favour of Leigh Griffiths in the 68th minute.

Morgan had a part to play in the first goal on Wednesday, his 13th-minute shot being parried by Hamilton goalkeeper Luke Southwood straight to the onrushing Ryan Christie, who dispatched the ball to the net. [via BBC]

The 23-year-old’s performance met with less than stellar reviews with some reporters. Kade Kistner of The Celtic Bhoys said: “The converted striker has had chances to prove why he belongs, but has not been able to capitalize”, while Hamish Carton of 67hailhail.com feels that the Hoops are “missing something when he’s up top”.
